Summary:
The FFA Advisor will serve as a sponsor, resource person, and supervisor for FFA members as they plan and carry out meetings, activities, and chapter projects, and promote agricultural education in the school and community.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Knowledge of adolescent young men and women and the ability to apply said knowledge
Ability to organize materials and people
Knowledge of agriculture
Ability to work well independently and under pressure.
Clear criminal history check, physical, and drug test required; first aid training.
Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise membership enrollment and FFA meetings
- Supervise election of officers
- Sponsor and supervise FFA members to district, state, and national events
- Supervise fundraising activities and account for the financial condition of FFA Chapter funds
- Supervise FFA Chapter activities, projects, and administrative functions
- Assist students with Ag projects and completion of records, including SAEs
- During summer months, make SAE visits to FFA members
- Serve as a good steward and positive advocate for the district
- All other district-related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board of education policies while modeling district standards of ethics and professionalism; implement policy, procedural, and curriculum changes from administration, the board of education, or state/federal changes; implement the school improvement plan within the classroom, ensuring building, district, and state standards/goals are met.
Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which include sitting, standing, talking, seeing, and hearing. Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the same leg, foot, hand, arm, or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 50 lbs., such as boxes of books.
