Non-Paid Hours of Work:

Part-time, flexible volunteer schedule. Exact weekly hours are not specified. Volunteer assignments are coordinated based on patient needs, volunteer availability, and geographic location. Position Summary AdvisaCare Hospice is seeking compassionate and dependable volunteers to provide companionship and support to hospice patients and their families throughout Macomb County. No healthcare experience is required. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Hospice volunteers provide emotional support, companionship, caregiver relief, and other non-medical services that help improve comfort and quality of life for patients and families. Volunteer Opportunities Available volunteer assignments may include: Sitting bedside with hospice patients in nursing facilities. Providing companionship to hospice patients. Providing temporary caregiver relief in private residences. Visiting patients with an approved/licensed pet therapy dog. Playing music or guitar for hospice patients. Making bereavement support calls to family members. Assisting with grief-support groups. Providing remote grief-support services. Supporting patients and families during the hospice-care experience. Opportunities for pre-medical students interested in learning more about gerontology and hospice patient care. Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older. Compassionate, reliable, and comfortable interacting with hospice patients and families. Willing to complete required orientation or training. Willing to submit to a TB test. Willing to complete a drug screening. Willing to be fingerprinted. Must comply with applicable hospice and facility policies. Court-ordered community service hours are not accepted.
