Full-time Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, student-centered School Counselor to support the academic, social, and emotional development of our middle school students. The ideal candidate will be proactive, collaborative, and committed to helping every student thrive in a creative and inclusive school environment.Responsibilities:
Provide individual and small group counseling to support students' social-emotional well-being Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with SEL frameworks (e.g., CASEL competencies) Support students with academic planning, goal setting, and organizational skills Collaborate with teachers, families, and administrators to address student concerns and promote success Partner with special education staff on IEPs and 504 plans, contributing to student support strategies and meetings Apply trauma-informed practices to support students' diverse needs Respond to student needs, including crisis intervention and conflict resolution Help foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate Maintain accurate and confidential student records Connect students and families with outside resources when appropriateQualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in School Counseling or related field preferred Valid NJDOE School Counselor Certification Experience working with middle school students preferred Knowledge of SEL frameworks, IEP/504 processes, and trauma-informed practices Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Ability to build trusting relationships with students and families Commitment to equity, inclusion, and whole-child development This position offers the opportunity to make a difference in students' lives while working in a supportive educational environment.
