Job Description

The Mine Superintendent will report directly to the Production Manager and will supervise 4 shift Supervisors. This position will be responsible for all the facets of a plant processing and packaging operation including bulk loading in both railcars and trucks in a union environment. This role involves coordinating production schedules, managing staff, and ensuring that all production processes run smoothly and efficiently. Work closely with other departments to meet organizational objectives and adherence to high standards of safety and quality. In addition, this role requires strategic planning to optimize production processes and the ability to resolve any issues that may arise during the production cycle.
Specific Responsibilities:
Ensure the plants' compliance with all Federal and State regulations, operating permits, and US Silica policies and procedures. Ensure proper training and documentation is complete for all employees of the operations on all production job postings. Ensure that mechanical and electrical issues are being addressed by working with the maintenance planner scheduling repairs and PM's. Supervise and coordinate daily production activities. Collaborate with the quality control team to maintain product standards. Develop and implement production schedules. Monitor production processes and identify areas for improvement. Evaluate equipment performance and maintain machinery. Prepare and maintain production reports. Coordinate with other departments to meet production goals. Resolve operational issues and troubleshoot problems.
Operations:
Implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements. Supervise and coordinate daily production activities. Collaborate with the quality control team to maintain product standards. Develop and implement production schedules. Monitor production processes and identify areas for improvement. Evaluate equipment performance and maintain machinery. Prepare and maintain production reports. Coordinate with other departments to meet production goals. Resolve operational issues and troubleshoot problems. Implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
Process Improvement:
Implement 5Sthoughout the operation. Train and assist Supervisors on details plans around housekeeping standards. formulate and execute a plan for correcting the problem. Identify process bottlenecks and causes of substandard performance.
Asset Management:
Assume "ownership" of the process equipment Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure preventive maintenance is performed and the equipment is operating as designed. Ensure shipped product meets all customer requirements including product quality parameters and freedom from contamination during loading and packaging.
Human Resources:
Manage the Production workforce within the bounds of the Labor Agreement. Encourage employee participation in problem-solving. Maintain an environment of mutual respect. Ensure Supervisors are reviewing and editing employees time in the Krones time system.
EHS Duties:
Ensure Supervisors are reviewing and editing employees time in the Krones time system. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. General safety meetings/inspections. Review and make sure all employees workplace exams are being addressed in a timely manner. Bachelors' Degree in Engineering or other technical area related to Mineral Processing required. Experience at a Mining Company Preferred, experience at a sand mining company extremely preferred. Over 5 years of experience required. Elevators and conveyor systems. Rotating Equipment. Mechanical knowledge. Represents the company personally as the face of integrity. Anticipate problems and prevent them when possible. Serve as the technical expert in the process area. Gather information from various sources, identify process or maintenance problems, and generate options for solutions. Demonstrate sound judgment in choosing a course of action. Take action to resolve problems without guidance. Communicate well at all levels. Experience with ERP systems, especially JDE, a plus.
