Job Description

Supporting the
Teacher:
Assist the teacher (Lead Guide) in preparing the classroom, supervising students, enduring a safe and organized learning environment, and delivering lesson material tailored to students' needs as directed by the teacher (Lead Guide). Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher's Aide (Assistant Guide) to support our Teachers (Lead Guides) in creating a nurturing and effective learning environment for Elementary age students within the Montessori based model. The Candidate MUST be willing to relocate to the Wasatch Back. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, particularly those with individual learning and behavioral needs, and will assist in implementing educational activities that promote literacy, behavior management, and overall development. This role is essential in fostering a positive atmosphere where all students can reach their full potential. Teacher:
Lesson Preparation:
Assisting with gathering materials, organizing resources, and preparing handouts.
Instructional Support:
Working with small groups or individual students to reinforce lessons, provide extra help, or introduce new concepts.
Record Keeping:
Helping with taking attendance, detailed observations and maintaining records. Provide one-on-one support to students, particularly those with personally unique education requirements. Support literacy education initiatives by following the Lead Guide's role to encourage reading and writing skills among students. Understands the goals of the Montessori program, and consults regularly with the teacher (Lead Guide) around specific expectations of children in the environment. Works effectively with Lead Guide to share and implement plans based on ongoing observations.
Supervising Students:
Classroom Management:
Enforcing classroom rules, supervising students during activities like recess or lunch, and managing student behavior.
Safety and Well-being:
Ensuring a safe and positive learning environment, providing support for students with behavioral needs, and assisting with students' basic needs. Engage with young children to facilitate learning through play and structured hands on activities. Demonstrates awareness of formal language conventions when speaking with children. Remains alert to children who are experiencing challenges and ready to support if needed. Maintaining the
Classroom:
Organization and Cleanliness:
Keeping the classroom tidy, organizing supplies, and preparing the classroom for lessons.
Administrative Tasks:
Helping with tasks like photocopying, filing, and making phone calls, observing children's work habits. Help manage classroom behavior by implementing effective behavior management strategies. Manages children's needs in order to allow the teacher to provide uninterrupted lessons. Seamlessly facilitates daily routines and needs of the classroom.

Building positive relationships with students and creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a fully collaborative educational experience. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities as required. Fully engages in every interaction, with students, peers, families, & visitors, offering, when possible, undivided attention.
Experience Prefered Teaching or tutoring:
Direct experience in teaching or tutoring, whether formal or informal.
Childcare or youth work:
Working in childcare settings, nurseries, or youth programs.
Volunteer work:
Volunteering in schools, organizations, or community programs.
Student teaching or apprenticeships:
Participating in student teaching or apprenticeship programs.
Shadowing:
Shadowing teachers or teacher's aides in a classroom setting.
Familiarity with education practices:
Working with students' individual needs is highly desirable. In addition to work experience, strong soft skills are also crucial for teacher's aides: Communication skills: Effective communication, both verbal and written, is essential for interacting with students, teachers, and parents.
Patience and empathy:
Working with children requires patience and the ability to understand and relate to their individual needs.
Organization:
Classroom management, record-keeping, and lesson preparation, and strong organizational skills.
Flexibility and adaptability:
School days can be unpredictable, so teacher's aides need to be able to adapt to changing circumstances.
Teamwork:
Working effectively with teachers and other staff members is crucial for a successful classroom environment.
Job Type:
Part-time Pay:
$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
