Role Summary The Commissioning (Cx) Agent supports commissioning activities, inspections, documentation, tracking, system readiness, and issue resolution throughout construction, startup, testing, and project turnover. Working closely with the Commissioning Manager, MEP Project and Field teams, QAQC personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner's Commissioning Authority, the Cx Agent helps ensure systems are properly documented, inspected, tracked, and prepared for commissioning and turnover activities. The position provides direct involvement in the commissioning of complex electrical, mechanical, controls, and mission-critical infrastructure within a data center construction environment. Key Responsibilities Commissioning Coordination Support execution of the project commissioning plan Coordinate commissioning activities with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and commissioning stakeholders Track system readiness and upcoming commissioning requirements Participate in commissioning planning and coordination meetings Support systemization and turnover sequencing Field Inspections & Readiness Perform commissioning-related field inspections Verify installation readiness before testing and startup activities Identify incomplete work, deficiencies, documentation gaps, or other items affecting commissioning readiness Coordinate corrective actions with appropriate project and trade personnel Support pre-functional and functional testing activities as required Commissioning Documentation Maintain commissioning logs, checklists, inspection records, test documentation, and issue trackers Ensure required commissioning documents are collected and properly organized Track completion of commissioning documentation by system and area Support preparation of commissioning turnover packages Maintain accurate records of outstanding actions and system status Issue Tracking & Closeout Document commissioning observations, deficiencies, and outstanding items Maintain issue and action-item trackers Follow up with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams regarding corrective actions Verify completion and closure of commissioning issues Escalate issues that may affect startup, testing, energization, or turnover milestones MEP & Vendor Coordination Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and equipment vendors regarding commissioning requirements Support equipment startup and vendor testing activities Verify required documentation, checklists, and prerequisites are available before testing Coordinate information between field teams and commissioning stakeholders Support integrated testing activities where required Turnover Support Assist with system turnover and final commissioning documentation Track outstanding commissioning deliverables Support compilation of test records, manuals, certificates, reports, and other turnover documentation Assist with final issue closeout and project completion activities Qualifications & Experience Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Building Systems, or a related technical field Previous experience in commissioning, MEP construction, field engineering, QAQC, building systems, or equipment startup Understanding of mechanical and/or electrical building systems Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, equipment documentation, and technical procedures Strong documentation and tracking skills Strong attention to detail and systematic approach to issue management Ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, vendors, project teams, and commissioning stakeholders Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project tracking systems Familiarity with commissioning-management tools or Procore is an asset Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, electrical infrastructure, mechanical systems, or large-scale industrial projects is strongly preferred What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is technically curious, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across both field and documentation activities.
