also manages the enterprise-wide IT Service Management platform ServiceNow. Position Summary The primary purpose of this position will require the technician install, terminate, and test fiber optic cable used in the campus data network. The technician will also be required to maintain and repair any and all issues that may arise with the fiber optic network by using an OTDR to determine where said issues are. Another requirement of the position will be to install, terminate, test and maintain the campus cable TV system from the headend to the faceplate. The technician will also be required to install, terminate, test and document LAN wiring, telephone wiring, and cable TV wiring per EIA/TIA and UNC standards. Technician will also be responsible for the installation and termination of CAT 6e data cabling, when needed. A good portion of the installation of the data cabling is completed above ceiling. Work in the telecom closets will be required to be done around live network equipment. Technician must be able to work in office areas without creating very much dirt and debris. The technician must be able to use a cable analyzer to test for opens, shorts, NEXT,FEXT, and wire mapping. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or a- Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of networking related experience such as network design, analysis or network management; or
- Associate's degree in Electronics or Networking Technology and one year of networking related experience: or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Journey level requires an additional one year of experience.
- Advanced level requires an additional two years of experience.
