Nurse Consultant

Job Summary:

The Nurse Consultant will care for ill, injured, or convalescing patients in an assisted living residence.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

Assist in training Be the Lead for other RNs working in the community

Duties/Responsibilities:

Oversee the care of all Maine residents through oversight, teaching, and training staff Ensure resident files are prepared for survey Assist to complete POC (plans of correction) Checks in with MDS coordinator to ensure they have the information required for a proper and timely submission. Identify and report areas of improvement opportunities. Interfacing with social workers/hospital workers for resident placement PCC Administrator Observe resident signs and symptoms Review resident records for completeness and accuracy Review medical records Review medication administration practices and procedures Review therapeutic diets Recommend staff training Undertake other reviews or make other recommendations as necessary

Required Skills/Abilities:

Licensed Registered Nurse General knowledge of nursing and health care terminology Excellent patient care skills Ability to read, write and understand charting General knowledge of Assisted living regulations

Education and Experience:

Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Maine A minimum of 2 years experience working in an assisted living facility

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer May require prolonged periods of standing, moving and bending Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
