Position:

The Fire Assay Technician will conduct routine and non-routine analyses of geological samples, fusion, and cupellation.

Specific Responsibilities:

Crucible management and set up/prepare samples for fusion Perform fusion and cupellation processes using furnace tools Follow up on rush priority workloads Ensure all safe work procedures and standard working procedures are strictly adhered to Maintain and organize departmental inventory, such as supplies and chemicals Ensure cleaning and maintenance schedules are complete Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures Other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Familiarity with all fire assay methods and their respective digestion volumes and finish methods Strong analytical and mechanical skills Organized and highly motivated individual Detail oriented individual Ability to work independently or as part of a team Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues Basic English communication skills (written and verbal) • Computer knowledge would be an asset; • Safety oriented Working at ALS The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
