JOB SUMMARY
The Systems Operator is responsible for implementing and maintaining optimal levels of monitoring of all chemical and paint processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to: Quality Control Completes daily pre-production tasks prior to the scheduled production start time, including, but not limited to: Checking for falling parts, racking, and tooling and placing those items into a predetermined collection receptacle. Completing routine laboratory analysis, including, but not limited to titrations, solids determination, pigment to binder ratio analysis for process control. Adding chemical(s) per work instructions to operate in system ranges. Maintaining optimal control of the system bath levels, and screens condition. Validating pumps are running correctly. Validating overflow rates, ensuring Psi pressures are correct per settings. Validating the oven is heating correctly. Validating the reverse osmosis (RO) system is running and filling correctly. Validating zinc heating plates and filter press are functioning correctly. Validating wastewater tank levels and pump are operating correctly. Recording laboratory checks on the Ph/flow log sheet, and monitoring and adjusting, when needed. Completes daily or hourly tasks as required, including, but not limited to: Maintaining laboratory analysis and monitoring of all stages of the system throughout the day. Inspecting and ensuring personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn, as required. Inspecting and replacing nozzles for cracks and loose or clogged tips. Documenting and analyzing test results of completed in-house and outsourced laboratory tests. Running the Datapaq system and test panels per work instructions. Completing routine visual checks throughout the day of all stages, which include validating bath levels, four-hour laboratory tests on zinc phosphate, validating pumps are running correctly, and the anolyte system performance. Keeps all chemical stages and paint stages within outlined parameters supplied by chemical and paint representatives. Maintains a safe and clean work environment and maintains the 5s standards in their assigned work area. Maintenance Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly working and calibrated on predetermined calibration dates. Performs preventive maintenance on the E-coat system and wastewater as defined in the preventive maintenance schedules. Performs light maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to plumbing repairs and component replacement. Leads until completion of the maintenance department in larger scale tasks, when deemed necessary. Follow the systems project management schedule as designed for each system. Actively pursuing to improve documentation or hardware equipment on each system. Inventory and Recordkeeping Keeps updated safety data sheets (SDSs) for all the chemicals, working with chemical and paint representatives, as needed. Report changes to the Quality Manager immediately. Keeps inventory of all nozzles and inductors. Completes and updates inventory on all bag filters, nozzles, inductors, personal protective equipment (PPE) and any other materials weekly to know when to order materials using Kanban system. Reports this information to the Accounting Department monthly. Records system issues, downtime, chemical consumption, etc., on the E-coat daily information sheet. Logs information when bag filters have been changed. Completes work orders for needed repairs and submit to the maintenance department as soon as there is an issue with the system. Cleanliness Maintains a high level of cleanliness and safety standards in the laboratory, wastewater, and assigned work area. Maintains clean laboratory instruments and equipment, including, but not limited to daily wiping down the equipment per 5S requirements and schedule. Drop cleans, refills, and charges tanks according to predetermined schedule. Routinely inspects spray patterns; adjusts, cleans, and replaces nozzles as needed to maintain the best performance of spray stages. Cleans and/or changes paint filter bags according to a predetermined schedule. Cleans the plates out on the filter press once a week for zinc phosphate and wastewater.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Systems Operator has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School diploma; or three to five years' of experience and/or training in chemistry handling; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

The associate may occasionally be exposed to heat, cold, wet, or humid conditions (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Personal protective equipment must be worn when required to include work boots, safety goggles, gloves, hearing protection, and protective clothing. While the offices of Beacon Industries are usually open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, this position may require work beyond these hours and on the weekends. It also requires the ability to drive a company vehicle and/or drive one's own vehicle on Beacon Industries' business. Thus, a valid driver's license and a demonstrated safe driving record are required.
