Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Operations Specialist is responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing organization policies, practices, laws and regulations pertaining to the Omaha Tribe.ESSENTIAL
DUTIES and/orRESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications. Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files. Ensure all Personnel Actions are properly authorized and all data and coding is correct, and entered into HRIS software. Maintain official Personnel and Confidential files. Ensure all files are properly secured, opened, closed, filed and maintained according to Human Resource and Tribal/State/Federal regulations. Performs periodic audits on files and records to ensure compliance. Processes required paperwork for employee transfers, changes in job classification, salary increases, and other related employment matters. May assist with preparation of human resource reports such as attendance, new hire, and turnover reports. Conducts constructive and timely performance evaluations. Conducts or acquires background checks, reference checks, exit interviews and employee eligibility verifications. Conducts pre-employment, random and suspect Alcohol and Drug testing process. Implements, leads and conducts new hire orientation, and employee recognition programs. Assists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, grievances and investigations. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and tribal employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Coordinates with the Payroll Department for payroll related inquiries for employees. Oversees the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department. Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. At least one year of human resource management experience preferred. CERTIFICATES and/orEXPERIENCE
Possess a valid Driver's License. Tribal Human Resources Professional Certification preferred, or must obtain with (1) year of employment. SHRM-CP a plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS andABILITIES
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
