Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Assist optometrists in providing patient care
  • Perform preliminary eye function testing such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception
  • Take patient medical history and document relevant information
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Administer eye drops or medications as directed by healthcare providers
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as tonometry, visual field testing, and retinal imaging
  • Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
  • Educate patients on proper eye care and contact lens use Fit, measure and dispense eyeglass frames.
Understand ophthalmic lens properties and prescriptions.
Skills:
  • Transcribe medical documentation accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain organized and accurate medical records
  • Possess knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and systems
  • Familiarity with medical terminology specific to ophthalmology
  • Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Ability to type quickly and accurately
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals
