Job Description

Previous experience is a plus, but not required. Will train the right applicant! Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting patients in selecting and fitting eyewear, ensuring optimal vision care. This role requires a strong understanding of ophthalmology, medical terminology, and the ability to manage both retail and clinical aspects of the practice. The Optician will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service while adhering to industry standards and regulations. Duties Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on their needs, preferences, and prescriptions. Perform fittings and adjustments of eyeglasses and contact lenses to ensure proper fit and comfort. Maintain accurate patient records, including medical billing and coding, while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide information on eyewear products, including lenses, frames, and contact lenses. Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Manage inventory of eyewear products and supplies, including ordering and restocking as necessary. Educate patients on proper eyewear care and usage, including the importance of regular eye exams. Stay updated on the latest trends in eyewear technology and fashion. Qualifications Previous experience as an Optician or in a related field is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology related to ophthalmology is essential. Familiarity with medical coding, billing practices, and maintaining medical records is highly desirable. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality. Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service. Ability to work effectively in both retail management and clinical settings. Proficiency in taking vital signs may be beneficial but is not required.
