Duties Assist patients in choosing eyewear that suits their prescription needs, lifestyle, and personal style, ensuring optimal comfort and functionality Take precise measurements for lens fitting, including pupillary distance and frame adjustments Support clinical staff by performing preliminary eye assessments such as vital signs and basic vision tests Educate patients on proper eyewear care, contact lens usage, and general eye health practices Manage retail sales transactions efficiently while promoting available optical products and accessories Follow HIPAA guidelines strictly to protect patient confidentiality during all interactions and recordkeeping Experience Previous optical experience or laboratory experience is highly preferred to ensure proficiency with lens fitting and frame adjustments Knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy of the eye, physiology, and medical terminology enhances service quality Experience working with pediatric or senior care populations is a plus to support diverse patient needs Retail sales experience combined with retail math skills will help drive product promotion and customer satisfaction Understanding of medical billing and coding related to optical services can streamline administrative processes Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to patients of all ages
