Job Description

General Summary:
Install and maintain outside plant (OSP) copper and fiber optic facilities and associated OSP telecommunications equipment. Install direct buried cable and other facilities using plowing, digging, and trenching equipment. Install demarcation devices at customer premises. Locate buried copper and fiber optic cabling. Essential Job Functions /
Certifications:
  • Install Outside Plant (OSP) facilities according to engineered work orders or service orders in compliance with RUS and NEC standards.
  • Reclaim construction area to company standards.
  • Install and maintain copper and fiber optic cable and distribution systems.
  • Perform copper splicing to company and RUS standards.
  • Locate buried copper and fiber optic facilities.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on OSP facilities, buried cable, pedestals, hand holes, manholes, etc.
  • Install and maintain network interface devices (NID) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT).
  • Ensures OSP facilities are maintained to RUS and telecom industry standards.
  • Ability to navigate and interpret standard telecommunication prints and mapping.
  • Meet documentation accuracy and timeframe standards for closing work orders, cable rearrangements, inventory audits, timesheets, IFTA fuel reporting, DOT mileage logs, etc.
  • Perform basic maintenance and lubrication on construction equipment on a daily basis to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Be the face of Silver Star, championing the company as a key player in the development of the local community.
  • Assist with campus facilities maintenance such as snow removal, grounds maintenance, etc.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Class A CDL
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Tower Climbing and Rescue certification with Biennial renewal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma plus 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Ability to hold a valid Wyoming or Idaho Driver's License.
