Job Title:
Packaging Machine Operator Job Description The Packaging Machine Operator sets up, operates, and cleans sleeving and bottling machines to ensure that all packaging is completed safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards. This role monitors product flow, verifies date codes, performs basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance, and supports overall departmental efficiency while following strict food safety and regulatory guidelines. Responsibilities Operate sleeving and bottling machines in accordance with established procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Clean sleeving and bottling machines and related equipment following Sanitization Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). Monitor the sleeving process to ensure sleeves are applied correctly to bottles and that bottles do not back up on the line. Verify that date codes are accurate and correct for each production run. Continuously observe product and bottle quality and promptly communicate any unacceptable quality to the supervisor or Plant Manager. Relieve other Machine Operators during machine downtime or job reassignment to maintain departmental efficiency and production quality. Perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance on machines immediately when issues arise to minimize downtime. Assist in setting up the work area and preparing machines and materials before the start of production. Report to the workstation on time and follow all requirements for proper work attire. Perform all duties in compliance with SOPs and SSOPs that meet quality and safety standards related to HACCP, FDA, EPA, OSHA, USDA, WDA, and customer requirements. Follow all company policies and procedures while maintaining professional behavior in the workplace. Lift and move materials and products, as needed, to support production and packaging operations. Perform additional duties as assigned to support production goals and overall plant operations. Essential Skills At least 2+ years of machine operator experience, preferably in a production or packaging environment. Hands-on experience with machine operation and machine setup. Experience operating packaging machines and filling machines. General production experience in a manufacturing or food production setting. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance on production machinery. Ability to follow SOPs and SSOPs and adhere to HACCP, FDA, EPA, OSHA, USDA, WDA, and customer requirements. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of daily duties. Strong attention to detail to ensure correct date coding, proper sleeving, and consistent product quality. Ability to work safely and maintain a clean and organized work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) experience or training preferred. Familiarity with packaging, sleeving, and bottling processes in a food or beverage environment. Comfort working with standardized procedures and regulatory requirements. Ability to collaborate with other machine operators and production team members to support overall efficiency. Willingness to assist in different areas of production as needed. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a production facility operating multiple shifts. Openings are available on 1st shift (4:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday) and 2nd shift (2:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday). The environment follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and employees wear appropriate protective attire such as hair nets, beard nets, smocks, and steel-toe footwear. Work is hands-on around packaging, sleeving, and bottling equipment, requiring regular movement, lifting, and attention to safety and cleanliness throughout the shift. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartland, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
