Job Description

A well-established and highly respected trial law firm in Kansas City is seeking a skilled and dedicated Paralegal to join its legal team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong interest in litigation and a passion for providing high-quality legal support in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The Paralegal will play a key role in supporting attorneys throughout all phases of case preparation, from research and discovery through trial. Key Responsibilities Conduct legal research using online databases, statutes, and case law to support case strategy and preparation Assist with case management, including organizing files, tracking deadlines, and maintaining calendars Communicate with clients professionally to gather information, provide updates, and respond to inquiries Support the discovery process by reviewing, summarizing, and managing documents; drafting discovery requests and responses Prepare and file legal documents in state and federal courts in compliance with applicable rules and procedures Assist with trial and hearing preparation, including organizing exhibits, coordinating witness materials, and preparing trial notebooks Provide general administrative and clerical support, including scheduling, correspondence, and file maintenance Qualifications Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred 3-5 years of prior paralegal experience in a law firm or legal department required Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw and/or LexisNexis Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience ($50K-$60K) Comprehensive benefits package including: Medical, dental, and vision insurance Short-term and long-term disability Life insurance 401(k) with profit-sharing component Generous paid time off and paid holidays, including MLK Day and Juneteenth Culture & Perks Supportive, energetic environment with a work hard, play hard mindset Strong commitment to community involvement, including quarterly charity initiatives Firm-sponsored social events such as holiday and summer staff parties Regular appreciation of staff milestones and contributions
