Paramedic Faculty - Simulation Coordinator

Job Description Position Responsibilities This position requires the following knowledge and abilities: Teach students in essential emergency skills aligned with EMS discipline standards by facilitating proper techniques, helping students understand the concepts, helping students interpret results, assisting students in write-up of Emergency Skills Techniques, and operating simulation software, programs, and/or equipment. Deliver scenarios on state-of-the-art simulation equipment. Coordinate emergency skills procedures by testing course learning outcomes and assisting with testing of emergency skills/course set-up, supervising students during testing, and checking results and recording scores. Collaborate with the Program Director to ensure compliance with CoAEMSP Standards. Service and maintain emergency skills equipment by checking operations, replacing used or broken equipment, and keeping inventory, stocking, and ordering of equipment as needed. Maintain control of emergency skills equipment and supplies by supervising the set-up of the emergency skills lab; prepping the materials, supplies, and equipment needed; and maintaining standardization of said materials, supplies, and equipment. Maintain emergency skills records by checking worksheets and recording grades. Record test scores as requested. Participate in professional development activities. Participate in program/department activities including accreditation and program review, staff meetings, and other department work. Demonstrate positive communication and teamwork skills. Maintain a flexible schedule for college assignment. Continually develop expertise in the field and in teaching through professional development.

Salary Range:

Salary and benefits will be based on the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) and the State of Minnesota. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Brand new to the system:

Salary min: $43,067 Salary max: $71,893

• Existing faculty would keep their current salary or candidates with higher education levels could be placed higher in the salary range.

Salary max:

$94,542 Minimum Qualifications Educational Requirement Associate's degree. Occupational Experience Requirement Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in pre-hospital, emergency, or critical care settings. Recency Requirement One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years. Professional Requirement Current Minnesota certification, registration, or licensure as a paramedic, physician, physician's assistant, or registered nurse. Preferred Qualification Bachelor's degree Experience in clinical instruction and simulation-based training. Current paramedic certification and relevant field experience in emergency medicine or pre-hospital care. Instructor-level specialty certifications (e.g. PALS, ACLS, and BCLS by American Heart Association and PEPP). Formal training in simulation education. Experience with high-fidelity simulation equipment and software. Knowledge of the National EMS Scope of Practice, EMS Education Standards, and evidence-informed clinical practices.
