Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Alcona Elementary as a Paraprofessional. This full-time position is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs and fostering a positive educational environment. The Paraprofessional will work closely with teachers and other staff to assist in the implementation of instructional programs, provide individualized support to students, and contribute to the overall success of the school community. Responsibilities Assist teachers in the delivery of instructional activities and lesson plans. Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them understand and complete assignments. Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers regarding student needs and concerns. Support students with special needs, including those with IEPs, by implementing accommodations and modifications as directed. Help maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning. Assist with classroom management and promote positive behavior among students. Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement effective strategies for student engagement and success. Prepare and set up instructional materials and resources for lessons. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions as required. Perform clerical duties related to student records and classroom organization. Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other activities as needed. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred. Experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable. Knowledge of child development and educational best practices. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families. Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting student learning and growth. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from teachers and administrators. Proficient in basic computer skills and familiar with educational technology. Ability to lift and assist students as needed, including those with mobility challenges. Background check clearance as required by state regulations.
