Job Description

Responsible for the coordination and implementation of Adult Education programming including appropriate instruction in reading, writing, math, digital literacy, life and work skills, career and college readiness and English language instruction. Educates and supports adults and youth (ages 17 and older) in individual and small group settings individualizing curriculum to meet the needs of each learner. Collaborates with other staff and volunteers regarding instruction and services for learners. Bachelor's degree in education or related field. Commitment to the concept that all people can learn and succeed. Digital literacy skills. Knowledge of curriculum development/adaptation and lesson planning. Knowledge of instructional technologies and the ability to individualize instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in alternative and/or adult learning settings strongly preferred. Current Teaching License preferred.

Interpersonal communication and human relations skills for working with people from a range of ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds one-to-one and in groups. Ability to adapt materials and teaching styles to diverse populations. Ability to develop collaborative relationships and resource networks to support learner success. Self-starter with good organizational and management skills. Part-Time Adult Education Instructor position open at the MN North College- Vermilion Campus.
Starting wage:

Applications open until May 29th. AA/EOE Schedules, plans, and implements individualized and group programming based on the identified needs of learners in community and correctional settings. Identifies and recruits learners into classes and programs appropriate to their needs. Provides instruction in literacy, ABE/GED, ELL, workplace, and/or citizenship. Applies research-based instructional practices that incorporate the use of computers and other technologies. Assists and reviews progress toward achievement of student's personal goals and objectives, evaluating learners' skills levels and performance through assignments, and written and oral assessments, and state-mandated assessments. Collects and manages accurate program data of learner attendance, skills, progress, special needs, etc. Submits required reports for program improvement and accountability. Develops and updates curriculum and lesson plans appropriate to a range of learner skills levels and goals. Sets up special conditions for learning and testing as needed including the State GED waiver. Communicates effectively with a diverse learner population and their families and support agencies. Treats all learners fairly and equitably. Advises learners and develops an individual plan with each learner to reach his/her goals. Determines support services needs and makes referrals to internal and external community resources to meet those needs as appropriate. Assists learners in negotiating community and governmental institutions, such as applying for citizenship, driver's licenses, employment, or services. Assists participants with job search activities, job attitudes, interviewing skills, and resume writing. Participates in the retention of students by following up with learners who stop attending or achieving. Participates in required professional development activities as required and requested by the state and the Agency to maintain licensure and meet program objectives- including College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS); Academic, Career & Employability Skills (ACES) -Transitions Integrated Framework; and Northstar Digital Literacy Standards. Performs other related duties as requested, such as: participating in regular staff meetings and planning sessions; participating in special programs and events including Agency training and graduation ceremonies; providing information for grant applications and reports. Utilizes and supervises volunteers as appropriate.
