Position Summary:
The Pediatric Occupational Therapist will work with a wide range of clients from birth to age 18 with a variety of diagnoses. These diagnoses can range from Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, sensory processing disorder, feeding difficulties, Down Syndrome, orthopedic and neurologic diagnosis, handwriting difficulties, etc. The Pediatric Occupational Therapist will assess client development and skill deficits, develop treatment plans, write treatment SMART goals, and have excellent communication skills for psychoeducation of parents/caregivers. They will demonstrate the ability to collaborate with and communicate treatment plans to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapy Interns. Qualifications and Experience 1. Education Graduate from an accredited Occupational Therapy program. 2. Experience and Abilities Minimum of 1 year of professional pediatric occupational therapy experience. Strong knowledge of pediatric physiology, best practices, and professional standards of care. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. 3. Licensure Current Oregon Occupational Therapist License and credentials. Current CPR and Basic First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Responsibilities Evaluate the condition of clients and analyze their needs. Provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results, determining treatment plans in consultation with physicians, and by prescription. Help clients accomplish treatment plans and secures necessary supplies and adaptive equipment for clients to facilitate progress towards established goals. Evaluates effects of therapy treatments by observing, noting and evaluating clients' progress, providing medically necessary treatment plans and modifications Manage the appropriate therapy units for clients based on individual clinical needs; Participates in the Q & A process for rehab related issues. Instructs and counsels clients by describing therapeutic regimens; gives typical growth and development information; promotes wellness and health maintenance Prepare documentation, progress notes, reports, and discharge summaries as required Reviewing the clients' progress and upgrading the prescribed treatment as per the requirements. Educating the clients' family about clients' needs and how to provide adequate medical care to them. Communicate on a regular basis with the client's medical team on the status, progress, barriers, and needs of the patient. Prepare documentation to obtain authorization as needed. Conducting thorough assessments to identify each client's needs and strengths. Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that promote growth, independence, and well-being. Collaborating closely with parents and caregivers, providing education and training to support progress at home and in the community. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, maintaining open communication with other professionals, including Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), students, and primary care providers. Demonstrating strong communication skills, adaptability, and compassion in every interaction. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently, up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds rarely and maintain safety guidelines for this position. Successfully pass a preemployment Background Check in accordance with state/local laws Protects clients and employees by adhering to treatment location infection control policies and protocols and keeping information confidential per company and federal requirements.
