Role:

We're seeking an authentic, high-energy Performer to bring Hawaiian culture to life at Experience Nutridge Luau. You'll perform hula and related Polynesian numbers, support cultural demos, and engage warmly with guests throughout the evening. This is a hands-on role where performers also help with pre-show traditions, activity setup, basic service support, and post-show breakdown. For strong contributors, there may be future opportunities to grow across departments (events, production, tours) within our locally family-owned company.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform assigned hula and Polynesian dance numbers, chants, and transitions with professionalism and cultural respect Support guest engagement and light emceeing/hosting when needed (intros, transitions, activity stations) Rehearse choreography and maintain show quality standards; attend scheduled rehearsals Care for costumes, implements, instruments, and props; report repair/replacement needs Prepare and facilitate cultural activities such as Ulu Maika (rolling/bowling) and O'o ihe (spear throwing) Assist with Makahiki area setup and breakdown; help prepare imu prior to showtime when assigned Support buffet service and guest areas (e.g., serving dinner, stripping linens, clearing tables) while maintaining a clean, safe environment Complete assigned cleaning zones at end of shift and obtain supervisor sign-off; communicate low supplies Follow company standards for safety, dress code, punctuality, and guest service Other duties as assigned

Schedule & Work Environment:

Typical show call: ~3:00 PM - 8:30 PM , five shifts per week (weather/seasonal adjustments possible) Training begins at 2:00pm until approved by Supervisor Currently our show is Monday - Friday with some Private events on the weekends Evening and holiday availability is expected Outdoor venue with physical activity (standing, dancing, walking, lifting up to 30-40 lbs, exposure to elements)

Qualifications:

Prior experience in hula or Polynesian dance (studio, halau, or professional) Strong stage presence, timing, and teamwork; comfortable engaging with audiences Reliable, punctual, and coachable; able to follow choreographic notes and direction Professional appearance and communication; commitment to cultural integrity and guest aloha Able to perform physical duties (dancing, moving props, basic setup/breakdown)

Preferred:

Knowledge of oli/chant and basic ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi pronunciation Experience facilitating cultural games/demonstrations Hosting experience a plus (intros, activity instructions, light emcee support)
