Visiting Faculty Qualifications:
An MFA in Acting is preferred, but a completed terminal degree in a related area combined with evidence of professional work as an actor and/or teaching acting at the post-secondary level will be considered. The candidate must have demonstratable ability to teach introductory acting and advanced coursework in realist acting. Degree must be completed by the start date. Prior experience teaching undergraduate student actors is preferred.

Description:
The Denison University Department of Theatre invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in the Fall of 2026. Candidates who have completed the MFA in Acting (or a related performance area) are preferred, but candidates with terminal degrees in related areas with evidence of experience as an acting artist or as a post-secondary teacher of acting will also be considered. The Visiting Assistant Professor will teach three acting courses in the Fall 2026 semester (two sections of the department's introductory acting course, with a student cohort from across the college, and one section of an advanced workshop in realist acting for primarily Theatre students) and two courses in the acting area in Spring 2027. Demonstrated ability to teach introductory acting as well as advanced courses in realist acting is required. Expertise in voice for the actor and/or acting for the camera is preferred. Teaching experience at the undergraduate college/university-level is preferred. The Denison Department of Theatre has five FT faculty positions, two FT faculty with combined appointments with the Department of Music, and two FT teaching staff artists. The faculty and students collaborate with the artistic and administrative staff of Denison's Eisner Center for the Performing Arts. The department typically has 40-50 majors and minors and produces or contributes to the production of six mainstage theatre projects each year (including the Music Theatre area). We offer a multidisciplinary B.A. major in Theatre, a minor in Theatre, and we contribute to the minor in Music Theatre.
