Essential Job Duties Prep & Refinish Excellence:
Responsible for following proper repair procedures and performing all vehicle preparation and refinish procedures according to factory specifications and K-ceps policy to restore damaged vehicles to their original structural appearance.Surface Preparation:
Clean, sand, block, mask, and prime vehicles or parts prior to painting. Utilize air sanders, spray guns, sanding blocks, and other specialized prep equipment to ensure a flawless surface for paint application.Color Matching & Mixing:
Prepare color tint to match paint color; mix paint colors, and ensure all formulations, preparations, top coating, and curing meet OEM recommended standards for proper application sequence, timing, and materials usage.Application & Testing:
Follow all paint manufacturing guidelines. Spray test panels for each vehicle to ensure an exact color match before final application.Finishing & Reassembly:
Complete final finish work, including buffing, de-nibbing, and polishing to eliminate imperfections. Ensure that all paint operations are complete, all masking is removed, and all prior paint-related disassembly has been reassembled prior to returning the vehicle to the body technician.Material Management:
Manage & control materials cost, maximizing usage and inventory efficiency.Quality Control & Compliance:
Complete QC sheet for every vehicle as applicable. Adhere to all regulatory compliance guidelines for hazardous waste disposal.Shop Safety:
Comply with K-ceps safety rules, guidelines, and standards. Maintain a clean, orderly, and organized work area. Perform other duties as required to successfully meet the needs of the business.Skills & Requirements Experience:
Typically has a minimum of 3-5 years of automotive refinishing and preparation experience.Certifications:
Auto Body Vo-Tech certificate, ASE certification in refinishing, or valid I-CAR certifications are highly preferred.Age & Licensing:
Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license and eligible for coverage under K-ceps insurance policy (not an excluded driver).Safety Compliance:
Comply with all safety requirements, respirator safety, and fitment/usage. Maintain compliance to pass required safety mask fit tests.Communication:
Ability to effectively communicate with others, both orally and in writing. Advanced communication skills to mentor, coach, and train apprentices as required.Work Style:
Ability to read and understand basic instructions, written estimates, and work orders. Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to adapt easily to a fast-paced environment.Professionalism:
Personable, friendly demeanor with a World Class customer service approach to internal and external customers. Maintain a well-groomed appearance. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Position is based in a normal shop environment. Frequent physical activity such as kneeling, bending, squatting, stooping, and lifting above shoulders is a part of daily activity, as well as repetitive tasks involving hand and arm motion and lifting objects over 50 pounds. Must be able to push/pull parts carts and cars with assistance. Working environment consists of exposure to fumes, chemicals, and dust, along with high levels of noise. K-ceps enforces the mandatory requirement to wear protective equipment. Must have manual dexterity to operate equipment. Subject to weather conditions both inside and outside. Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned. Education & General Job Requirements High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Previous experience as a Body Shop Technician, Prep Technician, or related experience required. Must be organized and manage workload and time well. Must pass a criminal background check and drug test. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
