Job Description

About the Opportunity We are seeking dedicated individuals to serve as Standardized Patients (SPs) for mental health simulation scenarios. In this role, you will portray patients with various mental health conditions to help train undergraduate nursing students in assessment, communication, and therapeutic intervention skills. This position requires the ability to consistently and accurately portray assigned roles while providing a safe, educational learning environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Scenario Performance
  • Portray patients with mental health conditions following detailed case scenarios and scripts with consistency and authenticity
  • Demonstrate specific symptoms, behaviors, and emotional responses as outlined in case materials
  • Respond to learners' questions and interventions in character while maintaining scenario objectives Training and Preparation
  • Attend mandatory training sessions to learn new cases and refine performance skills
  • Review and memorize case materials, including patient history, symptoms, and behavioral cues
  • Participate in case development and refinement as requested
  • Practice scenarios with other SPs and facilitators to ensure consistency Professional Conduct
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding learner performance and simulation activities
  • Arrive punctually and prepared for all scheduled sessions
  • Dress appropriately for assigned roles
  • Maintain professional demeanor with learners, faculty, and staff
  • Follow all safety protocols and institutional policies Administrative Tasks
  • Complete timesheets and required documentation accurately
  • Communicate availability and scheduling conflicts promptly
  • Maintain current contact information with the simulation instructors
  • Report equipment issues or concerns to appropriate staff
Qualifications:
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to memorize and consistently portray complex characters
  • Emotional maturity and ability to portray sensitive mental health scenarios
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Comfort with receiving and providing constructive feedback
Preferred:
  • Previous acting, teaching, or standardized patient experience
  • Background in healthcare, social work, psychology, or related field
