Conductor, San Ramon Youth String Orchestra San Ramon Academy of Music is hiring a conductor for the San Ramon Youth String Orchestra, a youth string program we run in partnership with the City of San Ramon. SRYSO rehearses Monday evenings from 5:00 to 6:30 at the Amador Rancho Community Center in San Ramon. Most of our players are returning students, and each semester ends with a performance at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center. Repertoire for the current semester is already set. What you would be doing Leading weekly rehearsals and preparing the ensemble for its end-of-semester performance. Selecting and preparing repertoire. Working alongside our string faculty, who coach sections and support the group. What we are looking for Real conducting experience, whether that is school orchestras, community ensembles, or a conducting degree. Someone who is genuinely good with young musicians, roughly ages 9 through 18. That matters to us more than anything on a resume. Strong score reading and efficient rehearsal technique. Reliable, warm, and able to build a room students want to come back to. Youth orchestra or school string program experience is a plus, as is a strings background, though we are open to any conductor who knows how to get a good sound out of a string ensemble. Details $75 per hour. One 90-minute rehearsal per week, Monday evenings, 5:00 to 6:30, at Amador Rancho Community Center. Independent contractor.
