The role The Vandenberg Space Force Base Chapel is seeking a Protestant Music Director to lead its Protestant music program. Working with the Lead Protestant Chaplain, you will plan music around sermon topics, Scripture readings, and worship themes. You will direct weekly rehearsals and services while building a dependable team of volunteer musicians and vocalists. Key Responsibilities Select contemporary, traditional, and gospel music for worship services. Submit weekly music selections by noon each Wednesday. Lead at least one rehearsal and one worship service each week. Direct the choir, praise team, musicians, and vocalists. Support holiday services, funerals, memorials, and special events. Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise ministry volunteers. Organize presentation slides and operate chapel audio-visual equipment. Assist with annual program planning, music budgets, and administrative requests. Maintain volunteer records and required compliance documentation. Attend scheduled meetings with the Chaplain, chapel staff, and advisory groups. Ensure facilities and equipment are left clean, secure, and properly stored after each event. The person Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. Have at least two years of experience as a church Music Director or primary musician, preferably within a Protestant setting. Be proficient in piano/keyboard or guitar. Be able to read and transpose music, sight-read or lead from charts, and improvise when needed. Understand contemporary Christian, traditional, and gospel music. Communicate clearly and work professionally with chapel staff, military personnel, and volunteers. Successfully complete an interview/audition and provide professional references.
