Job Description

Part-Time Choir Director The Choir Director provides musical leadership for the church's adult choir and supports the worship life of the congregation through thoughtful preparation, rehearsal, and presentation of choral music. This part‑time role is ideal for a musically gifted, organized, and spiritually grounded leader who enjoys working with volunteers and fostering a positive, encouraging rehearsal environment. This job would initially be just through May of 2027, with potential for renewal to a more long-term position. Key Responsibilities Plan and lead weekly choir rehearsals that develop vocal skill, musicality, and confidence among choir members. Select appropriate choral music for worship services in collaboration with the pastor. Direct the choir during Sunday services two times per month.

Assistance may also be needed forspecial services (e.g., Christmas, Easter, Holy Week), and occasional church events. Coordinate with accompanists, instrumentalists, and other worship leaders to ensure smooth musical transitions and unified worship planning. Recruit, encourage, and retain choir members, cultivating a welcoming and supportive community. Provide clear communication regarding rehearsal schedules, service times, and musical expectations. Manage music library and choir materials, including organization, distribution, and care of sheet music. Collaborate with church leadership to support the overall vision of worship and congregational engagement. Qualifications Demonstrated experience directing choirs or vocal ensembles (church or community setting preferred). Strong musical proficiency, including conducting, vocal technique, and score preparation. Ability to work with singers of varying skill levels with patience, encouragement, and clarity. Strong organizational and communication skills. Commitment to the spiritual mission of the church and to fostering worship that honors God. Ability to work collaboratively with pastoral staff, musicians, and volunteers. Background in various styles of music, and ability to collaborate with youth and young adults, preferred. Schedule & Compensation Approximately 5-8 hours per week , including rehearsal time, Sunday morning responsibilities, and planning. August-May (June and July are off) Compensation commensurate with experience and church budget guidelines. Additional hours may be requested for special services or seasonal events.
Pay:
$9,000.00 - $10,000.00 per year
