The position is full-time, exempt and is located at the Leawood campus at 13720 Roe Ave. Please see below for a full job description. Job Summary The Children's and Youth Choir Director is the church's leader in engaging children and youth through traditional worship, specifically through the building, growing and developing our choral ministry at Resurrection so that every child and student can experience God through Traditional Worship. As a member of the Traditional Worship team, the Children's and Youth Choir Director will integrate youth music into our ongoing Traditional worship planning in ways that allow for strategic collaboration between Resurrection Kids and Resurrection Students programming as well as our local school calendars.
Essential Responsibilities and Expectations :

Position-Specific Direct Youth Choir and Small Group Vocal ensembles in rehearsal and Sunday performances ensuring the highest levels of excellence in their musical offerings. The ability to train vocalists, read a standard piece of choral literature and teach it to youth with musical integrity Plan and direct seasonal theatrical productions. Assist in the planning of worship with location pastor and Traditional worship team members. Provide leadership for Traditional worship services, rehearsals and other events, as needed. Provide spiritual leadership, looking for opportunities to minister to and disciple and encourage children, students and their families to grow in Christ. Lead, mentor and provide direction to volunteer leaders. This includes ministry assessment and performance evaluation, goal setting, mentoring, spiritual encouragement, support, and conflict resolution. Build effective teams, identifying high-capacity leaders and equipping children, students and families for ministry. Recruit, manage, motivate, and equip volunteers. Coordinate logistics including set up and tear down for rehearsals and weekend worship service needs. Other duties as assigned. Churchwide Follow Jesus and engage in the "five essential practices" of the Christian life: worship, study, serve, give, and share. Support the church's purpose of "building a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people become deeply committed Christians." Exemplify the church's values and support its theological direction as a United Methodist Church. Competencies Team Building - forms highly effective teams, whether supervised or informal, where individuals with diverse skills achieve ambitious goals. Driving Vision and Clarity - ensures people are on the same page and understands the cross-functional role teams play in making the church a success. Motivating - creates a climate where people are inspired to do their best to help the church achieve its purpose.
Qualifications Minimum years of experience:
5 years of experience as a traditional worship leader or similar profession with demonstrated success in terms of growth in program.
Proven Results in:
Developing teams of volunteer musicians and promoting worship excellence with children. Proficiency on guitar or piano as well as choral music preferably both instruments and proven experience as a teacher and instructor. Proven experience in performing, training, and directing a group of musicians in a variety of age and skill levels and working on a team of people. Knowledge of traditional worship music, hymns, and children' songs appropriate for a worship setting. Able to relate to and lead a multi-generational congregation in worship Able to recruit and grow a musical program through outreach and community involvement in the arts with families. High level of initiative, motivation and enthusiasm. Proficiency in Mac & PC platforms and Microsoft Office Suite. Proficiency in Pro Presenter, and Planning Center is preferred.
