Job Description

CHOIR DIRECTOR
First Presbyterian Church of Quincy, MA FPC Quincy is seeking a choir director to lead its music ministry. The church has a long history of providing rich music during worship and special concerts, and the Choir Director is responsible for planning and preparing for the musical needs of our congregation. There is potential for directing a children's choir and handbell choir. Throughout all rehearsals and performances, the Choir Director should provide an atmosphere for both musical and spiritual growth and fellowship.
QUALIFICATIONS
Choral Directing Piano and/or Organ ability a plus (church has an Allen organ) Knowledge of sacred music preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
Choir Train/Teach choir members Weekly choir rehearsals September through June on Thursday evenings• Weekly choral anthems September through June during worship; Summer choir June-August Prepare expanded music programs (oratorios, cantatas, etc.) for Advent and Christmas Coordinate music with Pastor on worship themes Plan an annual Gospel Night Concert Administrative Tasks Meet regularly with pastor (in person or via Zoom) Order music as necessary Notify Worship committee when maintenance/upkeep of instruments is necessary (piano tuning, etc.) Provide material for Annual report for the music ministry Prepare articles for First Family (monthly newsletter) when appropriate Provide Office Administrator with bulletin material in a timely fashion HOURS Sunday morning Worship (4 hours) and Thursday evening rehearsals• (1 1/2 hours) Additional hours as needed for concerts and/or expanded Worship programs Additional hours are occasionally available for weddings and funerals at additional compensation. (•open to potential negotiation)
COMPENSATION
$300 per week (negotiable based on experience)
