Job Description

Shepherd of the Hills UMC is a church committed to cultivating a Christ-centered community where we connect with God, grow with one another, and serve our neighbors. The Assistant Worship Leader is a spiritual leader dedicated to the worship ministry of Shepherd of the Hills (SOTH) United Methodist Church. The primary focus of this role involves participating in Sunday morning worship band rehearsals and leading worship during SOTH's 10:00 am service alongside the Worship Leader. This individual will partner with the Worship Leader to ensure musical worship is led in a way that provides the congregation with opportunities for authentic encounters with God's presence. Responsibilities The Assistant Worship Leader is expected to be a visible leader within the church community.
Service Leadership:
Functions as the assistant leader for Sunday morning worship services at 10:00 am.
Rehearsals:
Participates in Sunday morning worship band rehearsals beginning at 9:00 am.
Preparation:
Practices each Sunday's designated setlist independently during the week to ensure musical excellence.
Collaboration:
Partners with pastoral and music ministry staff to plan music for special events, such as Christmas Eve and Easter.
Creative Input:
Has the opportunity to help select songs for Sunday morning worship if desired.
Expected Weekly Schedule:
5-8 hours per week Position Objectives The Assistant Worship Leader's primary objective is to facilitate authentic encounters with God's presence by supporting the spiritual and musical vitality of the congregation. Through vocal excellence and diligent preparation, the leader partners with staff to ensure weekly services and special events are engaging, worshipful, and lead with an enthusiastic presence. Qualification Requirements A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him. A proven track record of success as a leader. A deep commitment to the ongoing spiritual formation of the congregation and the worship ministry team. Strong vocal skills are required for this role. Exceptional relationship skills and an enthusiastic presence when leading the congregation. Proficiency in playing piano or guitar while leading worship is a plus.
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
