Catholic Mass Musician

Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and talented Catholic Mass Musician to provide piano and/or organ accompaniment for Catholic worship services, Holy Days, and special liturgies. The ideal candidate will participate in weekly rehearsals, coordinate music selections with the Choir Director, support volunteer musicians, assist with musical equipment setup and breakdown, and work collaboratively with chapel staff to help ensure worship services are well-prepared, organized, and conducted professionally. Responsibilities Provide piano and/or organ accompaniment for Sunday Catholic Masses at 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Provide accompaniment for Holy Days, special liturgies, and other Catholic services as required. Attend weekly rehearsals and support choir and volunteer musicians. Coordinate music selections with the Choir Director and Catholic Priest/designee. Learn and prepare new hymns, songs, and special music as needed. Arrive at least 30 minutes before each service for setup and warm-up. Set up and store instruments, music stands, microphones, cords, and related equipment. Keep worship and rehearsal areas clean, organized, and secure. Work cooperatively with chapel staff, choir members, volunteers, and other faith groups. Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and reliable communication. Arrange a qualified, pre-approved substitute when unavailable. Qualifications Must be proficient in piano and/or organ accompaniment. Must be familiar with Catholic worship music, hymns, and liturgical settings. Must be able to learn new hymns and music as required. Must be able to work effectively with chaplains, choir directors, volunteer musicians, and other faith groups. Must be in good standing with a Catholic parish. Must provide a Letter of Sustainability from the parish. Must successfully complete the required background check. Must ensure any substitute meets the same qualifications and receives prior chapel approval.
