Position Overview:
St. Petersburg College is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Piano Accompanist to join our music department. This individual will primarily accompany students during applied lessons but may also be asked to participate in recital performances and choral ensemble rehearsals. The ideal candidate will possess fluency in advanced piano performance, a strong ability to sight-read, and experience collaborating with vocalists and instrumentalists at the collegiate level.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide accompaniment during applied lessons for both vocal and instrumental students. Participate in recital performances and choral ensemble rehearsals as needed. Work collaboratively with students, faculty, and other musicians to enhance the performance experience. Provide professional support for various music department events, including rehearsals and performances. Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate lesson times and rehearsals during mornings and afternoons, Monday through Friday.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Fluency in advanced piano performance and interpretation across a variety of musical styles and genres. Proficiency in reading music notation, including sight-reading at a high level. Demonstrated experience as an accompanist or piano collaborator, particularly in collegiate or professional settings. Familiarity with standard vocal and instrumental repertoire at the collegiate level. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to adapt to a variety of musical styles and ensembles. Must be reliable, punctual, and able to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience accompanying choral ensembles and working with singers of various vocal ranges. Degree in music performance or a related field is preferred, but not required. Experience in a university or college music department setting.
Hours:
Primary hours will be during mornings and afternoons, Monday through Friday. The position will require flexibility to accommodate students¿ schedules and departmental needs.
Compensation:
$40 per hour.
