Job Description
Song Leader for New, Nontraditional Worship Service The Upper Room at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Sundays at 5:00 p.m. First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a theologically progressive congregation that celebrates women's leadership and extends an affirming welcome to all regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, physical ability, economic condition, race, cultural background, etc. First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Bloomington, Indiana is seeking a skilled musician and worship leader to serve at our exciting new, non-traditional worship service, The Upper Room. The ideal candidate will be a skilled song leader who is proficient on guitar and/or keyboards and will be comfortable with public speaking. They should enjoy sharing their faith within a vibrant community setting. The Worship Leader will work directly with the Senior Minister.
Salary:
$100/week. Approximately 4 hours/week This role does not include PTO. Absences should be planned as far in advance as possible.Responsibilities:
1) In collaboration with the Senior Minister, select music for the worship service each week. 2) Lead songs during the worship service at 5:00 p.m. each Sunday. The worship leader should engage the congregation, making music accessible and easy to learn. 3) Meet periodically with the senior minister to discuss elements of the service and to do long-range worship planning.Expectations:
- The worship leader is expected to arrive on Sundays by 4:30 p.m
- The worship leader should be prepared to lead with skill, competence, and confidence
