Responsibilities Lead the piano performances during worship services, concerts, and special events, ensuring a compelling and spiritually uplifting experience. Collaborate with choir directors, conductors, and other instrumentalists to arrange music that blends various genres and enhances the overall program. Select appropriate hymns, liturgical music, and concert pieces that align with thematic elements and audience engagement goals. Rehearse regularly with musicians, providing guidance on musical interpretation, improvisation, and harmonizing melodies to create cohesive performances. Oversee the tuning and maintenance of pianos and other acoustic instruments; coordinate acoustic treatment efforts to optimize sound quality in performance spaces. Incorporate digital audio workstation (DAW) technology for recording sessions or live sound enhancements when needed. Mentor emerging musicians in skills such as reading sheet music, musical improvisation composition, guitar playing, drums playing, organ playing, and blending music genres to foster growth within the team. Requirements Extensive experience performing in religious settings with strong knowledge of musical liturgical traditions and hymn music. Proven ability to perform concert music across diverse genres with proficiency on the piano; additional skills in guitar playing, drums playing, organ playing are highly desirable. Demonstrated expertise in reading sheet music fluently and improvising or composing original arrangements. Familiarity with music selection processes that reflect thematic relevance and audience preferences. Knowledge of acoustic treatment techniques to enhance sound quality within performance spaces. Experience working with digital audio workstations (DAW) for recording or live sound purposes. Strong theater experience or background in stage performance is a plus for engaging audiences effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills for leading rehearsals, mentoring team members, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
