Job Description
St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Chesterfield, Virginia is seeking a skilled and dedicated pianist to provide accompaniment for 3 Weekend Masses, Holy Days, other special liturgies including but not limited to weddings and funerals at the parish, rehearsals and other special events as requested/scheduled, under the direction of the Music Coordinator. Working in collaboration with the Music Coordinator and under the direction of the Pastor, the accompanist helps foster reverent, joyful, and participatory worship in keeping with the liturgical traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. Proficiency in piano accompaniment Experience accompanying cantors, choirs and congregational singing Familiarity with Catholic liturgical music and worship Ability to read music and adapt to cantor, choir and liturgical needs Willingness to collaborate and serve within a parish community. This is a limited part-time position averaging approximately 8 to 10 hours per week. Hours for weekend Masses and Wednesday evening rehearsals are firm. Other special liturgical celebrations will vary. Must pass a pre-employment background check and successfully complete Parish Safe Environment program. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and diocesan guidelines. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
