$58,000 Employees being promoted to a higher classified position receive the minimum for the position or a pay rate adjustment of 8% whichever is greater. All regular positions also entitle the employee to several benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement which is largely paid by New Mexico Tech for the employee and dependents.

JOB SUMMARY:

The postdoctoral researcher will conduct experiments to understand rare earth mobility between solids and fluids at high temperatures and pressures using cold seal pressure vessels.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Conduct cold seal pressure vessel experiments (including welding capsules, creating fluids, pressurizing, heating and quenching experiments) • Analyze fluids using ICPMS, ICPOES, and

MC-ICPMS

; Analyzing solids using scanning electron microscope, electron microprobe and

LA-ICMPS

Drafting Manuscripts Mentoring graduate students and assisting with maintaining cold seal furnaces

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. or other doctorate level equivalent in Experimental Geochemistry. Safe operation of cold seal vessel and creation of capsules. Analysis of experimental fluids using ICP-MS, -OES, and

MC-ICPMS.

Knowledge of SEM for imagine.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of electron microprobe and

LA-ICPMS

for compositions of solids.
