About Nomura Preschool Nomura Preschool is a well-established, family-owned early learning center serving children ages 18 months to 5 years. Position Overview We are seeking a reliable and experienced Music Teacher for the 2026/27 school year to lead weekly music and movement classes. This is a part-time position (approximately 4 hours per week), scheduled over two consistent mornings. This role is ideal for a music educator who enjoys working with young children and is looking for a steady, low-hour commitment with a consistent weekly schedule. Schedule 2 mornings per week (set schedule) Approximately 4 hours total per week Ongoing commitment for the full 2026/27 school year Key Responsibilities Plan and lead music and movement 30 minute sessions for children ages 18 months-5 years (twice per week) Introduce foundational musical concepts in a developmentally appropriate way through singing, movement, simple percussion instruments (sticks, drums, etc.). Present a performance once a year (winter time) to showcase songs of the season, from class activities and supporting the theme that is being celebrated. Use instruments (guitar, ukulele, keyboard, etc.) to support instruction Maintain a structured, positive group environment Collaborate with classroom teachers during sessions Qualifications Experience teaching music to young children (preschool experience preferred) Training in music education or music development in children from Kodaly, Freirabend, Orff methodology or other early childhood music curricular approaches that introduce singing to young children Demonstrated ability to lead group activities with confidence and clarity and sing in the head tone for children to imitate Proficiency in at least one instrument (guitar, ukulele, or keyboard required) Strong classroom presence and ability to lead group activities Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule Requirements Background check and fingerprint clearance Current TB clearance Mandated Reporter training (or willingness to obtain) Compensation Competitive and commensurate with experience To Apply Please submit your resume and a brief description of your experience working with young children and teaching music to our Administrator, Matthew Clark, at matthew.clark@nomurapreschool.com.
