Job Description

Print Production Floor Supervisor Greenerprinter Richmond, CA Job Details Full-time $80,000 - $92,000 a year 2 hours ago Benefits Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off 401(k) matching Qualifications Manufacturing management Team management Production planning Staff training Root cause analysis Full Job Description About Greenerprinter Greenerprinter is a sustainable commercial print shop based in Richmond, CA. We produce high-quality printed materials — books, catalogs, booklets, calendars, card decks, and more — for businesses across the country. We run a busy digital press floor and bindery, and we take pride in doing things right: for our customers, our team, and the environment. We're growing, and we're looking for someone who can bring real structure and ownership to our production floor. The Role This is a floor leadership role. You will own daily production execution at Greenerprinter — setting the job queue each morning, keeping press and bindery moving in the right order, supervising digital pressmen, coordinating with our CSR team, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. You will not be running presses or operating bindery equipment. You will be running the floor. If you are the kind of person who walks into a room, quickly figures out what is out of order, and feels compelled to fix it — this job is for you. What You'll Own Daily Schedule & Job Flow Set and manage the production priority queue every morning before the floor starts. Ensure digital pressmen always have a clear, ordered job list — no guessing, no downtime from confusion. Adjust priorities in real time as jobs complete, issues arise, or deadlines shift. Communicate schedule changes to our CSR team proactively — before customers ask. Bindery Coordination Own the bindery job sequence alongside the Bindery Manager — jobs run in the right order, not arrival order. Identify finishing bottlenecks early and communicate upstream before a deadline is missed. Track recurring issues that bindery catches and own the root cause fix — don't let the same problem happen twice. Cross-Team Communication Be the daily link between our CSR team, digital press operators, and bindery staff. Know the status of every active job and every job on hold.
For any job on hold:
find out why, own the fix, and keep it moving. Staff Scheduling Own the shift schedule for press and bindery staff — ensure coverage is in place to hit daily production. Manage time-off requests and fill gaps before they become production problems. Adjust staffing levels ahead of heavy production weeks; flag needs to management early. Pressman Supervision Directly supervise digital pressmen on performance, quality, and throughput. Address issues directly — color problems, file issues, SOP shortcuts, missed output. Hold the team accountable in a way that is firm but fair. Process & SOPs Build and document SOPs for job handoff, press operation, quality checks, and bindery communication. Identify recurring problems and build a process to prevent them — not just fix them in the moment. Train floor staff on new procedures and follow up to make sure they stick. Inventory & Organization Monitor paper and consumable inventory daily; flag reorder needs before shortages happen. Keep the floor organized, labeled, and clean. What We're Looking For Print experience is a plus but not required. We care far more about your ability to lead a floor, manage people, and build process. If you have done this in packaging, fulfillment, labels, food production, or any manufacturing environment — we want to talk to you. 3-5+ years supervising or leading a production team in a manufacturing or production environment. You naturally bring order to chaotic environments — people look to you when things go sideways.
Direct communicator:
you give clear feedback, hold people accountable, and don't avoid hard conversations.
Process-oriented:
you see a recurring problem and immediately want to write the SOP that prevents it. Strong written and verbal communication — comfortable talking to both floor staff and the office team. Calm under deadline pressure. You absorb chaos, you don't create it. Experience managing shift schedules and staff coverage preferred.
