Job Overview:
The Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Teacher builds a bridge between preschool and traditional kindergarten by providing rich, developmentally appropriate learning experiences for young children. This role centers on cultivating curiosity, independence, and early academic readiness in a warm, structured environment that supports each child's social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Key Duties Design and implement hands-on, play-based learning experiences tailored to four- and five-year-olds. Introduce and reinforce early literacy and numeracy concepts through games, stories, centers, and guided activities. Intentionally teach social-emotional skills such as cooperation, self-regulation, and problem-solving. Adjust instruction and classroom supports to address a wide range of developmental levels, languages, and learning styles. Observe and document student growth, using formal and informal assessments to inform instruction. Maintain consistent, proactive communication with families about classroom learning, expectations, and individual student progress. Partner with paraprofessionals, specialists, and administrators to coordinate services and supports. Follow district TK curriculum, contribute to grade-level planning, and participate in professional learning. Establish predictable routines and use positive behavior strategies to create a calm, engaging classroom. Carry out additional school duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. 24 semester units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (meets TK-specific requirements). English Learner Authorization (CLAD or equivalent), either embedded in the credential or held separately. Ability to clear all state-required background checks, including Live Scan and TB screening. Deep knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practice. Demonstrated ability to build an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom where all children and families feel welcomed and valued.
Pay:
$65,563.51 - $133,644.89 per year
