Summary:
CFD Research Corporation is actively seeking a Production Technician to join our dynamic team at our state-of-the-art Engineering Test Center located in Hollywood, Alabama. This role requires a strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the capability to work effectively both on the production floor and in supportive capacities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, adherence to stringent aerospace specifications, and the ability to excel in a team-oriented environment focused on continuous improvement and safety.Responsibilities:
Perform hands-on assembly of products in accordance with established work instructions, drawings, and quality standards. Utilize hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and testing equipment to assemble, fit, and install parts and components. Conduct thorough inspections of in-process and completed assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives within the production team. Operate in cleanroom environments or controlled areas as necessary. Read and interpret basic technical documents, including blueprints and assembly procedures. Track and document material usage, ensuring precise inventory management and job allocation. Maintain organized and up-to-date production and quality documentation (e.g., travelers, checklists, shop floor control systems). Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including packaging, labeling, and coordinating outgoing shipments. Verify materials and components prior to assembly to ensure accuracy and quality. Support inventory control, cycle counts, and material organization within the work area. Communicate material shortages, discrepancies, or production issues to supervisory personnel. Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with company standards. Adhere to all safety procedures and quality requirements during the assembly and handling of materials. Assist with general production needs and cross-functional tasks as required. Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative manufacturing setting. May require prolonged periods of standing, lifting up to 35 lbs, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional overtime or weekend work may be necessary to meet production schedules.Required Skills:
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 years of experience in production control or precision assembly manufacturing. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering documents, and assembly instructions. Proficiency in using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges). Strong mechanical aptitude and hand-eye coordination. Experience with aerospace coatings, including surface preparation, masking, application of primers/sealants, or anti-corrosion treatments. Basic computer skills and familiarity with ERP/shop floor systems. Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility requirements to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.Desired Qualifications:
Associate degree or vocational training in manufacturing, aerospace, or mechanical technology preferred. Familiarity withAS9100, ISO 9001
quality systems, or NADCAP requirements. Certifications in aerospace manufacturing or coatings (e.g., NACE, SSPC, AWS) are a plus. Prior experience in production control (organizing, tracking, shipping, etc.) is advantageous.Location:
