About The Youth Project The Youth Project is a California nonprofit organization partnering with school communities across Monterey County through ELO-P (Expanded Learning Opportunities Program) and ASES (After School Education and Safety) expanded learning programs. Position Summary The Program Delivery Specialist is the frontline heart of The Youth Project. This role works directly with students every day — facilitating activities, building relationships, delivering curriculum, and creating the kind of positive, structured experience that keeps kids engaged and growing. Program Delivery Specialists are supervised by the Site Coordinator and operate as key members of the site team. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with young people, shows up consistently and enthusiastically, and wants to make a real difference in the lives of kids in our community. Key Responsibilities 1. Direct Student Engagement Build positive, trusting relationships with the students you work with every day Facilitate enrichment activities, sports, games, academic support, arts, and leadership development with energy and consistency Use age-appropriate, culturally affirming engagement strategies that meet students where they are Serve as a reliable, encouraging presence for students — especially those who need additional support 2. Curriculum Delivery Implement TYP's program curriculum as directed by the Site Coordinator Facilitate planned activities with enthusiasm and adaptability; follow lesson plans while responding to the dynamics of the group Set up and break down materials and activity spaces before and after each session Provide input to the Site Coordinator on what is working well and where students are most engaged 3. Student Safety Maintain appropriate supervision ratios at all times; never leave students unsupervised Follow all TYP and school site safety protocols, including emergency procedures Manage student behavior using positive guidance techniques — de-escalation, redirection, and relationship-based approaches Report any safety concerns, injuries, or incidents to the Site Coordinator immediately 4. Attendance Support Assist with daily sign-in and sign-out procedures Support the Site Coordinator with headcounts, attendance record-keeping, and roster management Ensure students are released only to authorized adults per TYP and site protocols 5. Communication Maintain open, respectful communication with the Site Coordinator throughout each program day Report any student behavioral concerns, health observations, family interactions, or program feedback promptly Participate in team huddles, staff meetings, and check-ins as scheduled Communicate with families in a warm, professional manner when directed by the Site Coordinator 6. Environment Help maintain clean, organized, and welcoming program spaces Put away materials, equipment, and supplies after each activity Take pride in the physical environment students are learning and playing in — it communicates that they matter 7. Professional Development Attend all required staff training, orientations, and professional development sessions Engage actively in staff meetings and learning opportunities Be open to feedback and coaching from Site Coordinators and Program Directors Grow with TYP — staff who show leadership potential will be considered for Site Coordinator opportunities over time Compliance Requirements All program staff at The Youth Project must meet the following requirements prior to or shortly after hire: DOJ and FBI Live Scan background clearance required prior to start date, pursuant to California Education Code Section 45125.1 TB clearance required prior to start date Paraeducator competency requirement: Must have passed the employing school district's paraeducator competency test, have passed it within the prior 12 months, or hold an equivalent qualification (48 college units, Associate's degree, or higher) First Aid/CPR certification required within 30 days of hire Bilingual Spanish-English strongly preferred given the communities we serve

Qualifications Required:

High school diploma or GED equivalent Must be at least 18 years of age Genuine enthusiasm for working with young people Reliable, punctual, and dependable — students and families count on you being there Ability to work after-school hours during the school year (typically approximately 2:00 PM-6:00 PM) and full days during the summer program

Preferred:

Some college coursework (particularly in education, child development, kinesiology, social work, or related fields) Prior experience working with youth in after-school programs, camps, recreational programs, schools, or community organizations Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English Experience with sports, performing arts, visual arts, academic tutoring, or another enrichment specialty Familiarity with ELO-P or ASES expanded learning programs Work Schedule & Conditions Part-time or full-time, hourly/non-exempt position School-year schedule: approximately 2:00 PM-6:00 PM (hours may vary by site) Summer schedule: full-day hours during summer expanded learning program This is an in-person, site-based role Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and actively supervise and engage with students for extended periods Outdoor activity facilitation may be required; must be able to work in varied weather conditions Compensation Hourly rate commensurate with experience. This role is eligible for expanded hours during summer programming.
