Job Description

As the Manager of School-Based Services, you will oversee the day-to-day operations, staff performance, and overall success of Astra's school-based behavioral health programs across multiple locations. This role requires someone who can balance: leadership operations relationship management accountability and problem-solving —often all within the same day. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, work well with people, and can lead teams while managing operational demands, this could be an incredibly rewarding opportunity. What You'll Actually Be Doing Overseeing daily operations of school-based mental health programs Supervising and supporting clinical and administrative staff Managing staffing, schedules, caseloads, and program coverage Monitoring productivity, performance, and documentation compliance Supporting hiring, onboarding, training, and staff development Serving as a primary liaison between Astra and partnering school districts Managing school relationships, contracts, and renewals Assisting with referrals, prior authorizations, and continuity of care Supporting program growth, operational improvements, and expansion efforts Addressing day-to-day challenges quickly and professionally This Role Is a Good Fit If You… Can lead people while still staying hands-on operationally Stay calm and solution-focused under pressure Are highly organized and able to juggle multiple priorities Communicate professionally with schools, families, staff, and leadership Are comfortable holding staff accountable while also supporting development Can adapt quickly in a constantly changing environment What You Need to Qualify Bachelor's degree in: Behavioral Sciences Counseling Psychology Social Work Education Nursing or related field required (Master's degree preferred) OR Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in behavioral health or school-based services
Minimum:
3-5 years of experience in behavioral health, school-based services, or related field 1-2 years of leadership, supervisory, or program management experience
Preferred:
Behavioral health licensure or license-eligible status Experience with Medicaid, managed care, and insurance-based services Experience managing multi-site or district-based programs Additional Requirements Valid Kentucky driver's license and reliable transportation required Regular travel between school and program sites required Must pass: Criminal background check CPS (Child Protective Services) check Driving record check Work Environment This role operates primarily in: School settings Day Treatment environments Community and office settings as needed This is a: ✔ Fast-paced ✔ High-accountability ✔ Leadership-intensive role Some days involve: crisis management staffing issues parent concerns operational problem-solving balancing productivity and quality of care simultaneously What Will Make You Successful Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to manage both people and operations Comfort making decisions in real-time situations Strong organizational and follow-through skills Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining accountability Why Astra?
