$141,288-$190,056 The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Psychologist 4 at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC). The CBCC has an operating capacity of 858 male individuals located on the point of the Olympic Peninsula. Located in Clallam Bay, WA. It is 50 miles west of Port Angeles and looks out over the Strait of Juan de Fuca at Vancouver Island. The Psych 4 provides oversight of mental health services provided in all custody levels housed at
CBCC:
close/medium and maximum custody, which includes services in Intensive Transition Program (ITP), Restricted Housing Unit (RHU), and the Intensive Management Unit (IMU). As the supervising member of the Mental Health Team, and reporting clinically to the DOC Chief Psychologist, the Psych 4 will enhance prison and community safety by guiding and providing resources to mental health staff to facilitate their delivery of services that allow mentally ill incarcerated individuals to program effectively. This will be within programs offered by DOC. This position will also be responsible for the implementation of the CQIP HS Performance Measures for Mental Health as directed through Health Services. The Psych 4 provides professional, confidential services in an ethical, humane manner to mental health patients. The Psych 4 utilizes current evidence-based modalities based on individualized treatment plans. The Psych 4 maintains high standards for mental health services, so the Department of Corrections is able to successfully carry out its mission. The Psychologist 4 directly supervises five dynamic mental health professionals in providing ethical and human services to individuals assigned to the CBCC. This leadership role establishes and maintains the standards for mental health services set forth by the Department of Corrections (DOC) so as to carry out its mission, "to improve public safety", by influencing front line staff in promoting mental health stability and increased functioning for mentally ill patients. •

"This recruitment could be used to fill multiple permanent or non-permanent positions" Duties Duties included: Management and First Line Supervision of Mental Health Department Direct job assignments and clinical oversight of Psychology Associates in the completion of duties. Complete monthly supervisory conferences. Facilitate regular clinical staff meetings and in-service training to mental health staff. Complete employee performance evaluations according to Office of Financial Management, State Human Resources rules, collective bargaining agreements and DOC policy. Interview and recommend for selection of new employees in the mental health unit. Develop procedures to improve the functioning of the mental health department. Facilitate cooperation and teamwork with mental health staff and staff of CBCC and DOC. Mental Health Treatment Oversee quality of service provided by mental health staff. Integrate the Department's functions into the overall operation of the institution. Perform diagnostic, treatment and training functions. Provide/facilitate group and individual counseling or psychotherapy or psycho-educational intervention. Chart Reviews Crisis Intervention Provide mental health coverage to inmates in psychological/psychiatric or behavior crisis to include clinical and resource assessment and any necessary. recommendation for disposition. Provide or direct mental health coverage requested by program managers responding to an emergent situation within the facility. Assessments Complete formal assessments through clinical interviews (including mental status examination), psychological tests and techniques and review of relevant records. Document and distribute each assessment as appropriate. Other duties as assigned Provide or direct training of CBCC staff in suicide prevention and appropriate staff response to incarcerated individual in crisis or exhibiting a decompensation in their mental or behavioral status.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
One year of postdoctoral psychology experience. Possession of a license to practice psychology in the state of Washington. At least one year of experience working independently and effectively to develop resource linking client needs with resources within institutions and/or the community.
Desired Qualifications:
Three (3) years of Postdoctoral experience, including one (1) year experience in forensic psychology. One (1) year experience working with mentally ill individuals in a maximum-security facility.
