Public Works Maintenance - PT

Job Summary The City of North Powder is seeking a qualified person to fill a part time Public Woks Maintenance Assistant position. Duties include but not limited to: maintenance, operation and repair of City's infrastructure: municipal water system, sewer system, streets, buildings, parks and vehicles. Take daily water meter readings, repair, replace, clean and test water meters; install new water and/or sewer lines, maintain and repair old or broken water lines, valves, fire hydrants, well pumps and water reservoirs. General maintenance and clean-up of city parks, road right-of-ways, open ditches including vegetation control. Resurface improved streets, maintain open ditch drainage systems; place, maintain and replace street signage and other duties as assigned. This is a week end, fill-in as needed position. Experience in general maintenance, repair and construction is desirable; knowledge of construction materials, procedures, tools and equipment as they related problems. Ability to read maps, interpret plans and specifications, and to records of time & materials used. Knowledge of bid document preparation process, advertising and award, occupational hazard and effective/proper safety standards, practices and procedures related to equipment and hand and power tools. Federal and State guidelines used in wastewater collections, treatment, water treatment and distribution, repair and installation as well as construction, maintenance and streets experience preferred. Candidate must have the ability to complete all documentation and reports required by State and Federal agencies, such as DEQ DMR's. Candidate must possess the ability to read and follow oral & written instruction.

Experience at least 1 year preferred Experience in operating lawnmower, and dump truck necessary. Backhoe and other construction equipment experience preferred.

Pay:

$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
