Job Description The Purchasing Agent will have very strong communication and negotiation skills, a high level of market awareness related to current/future projects and necessary component parts and/or services, and efficient organizational abilities to acquire critical supplies within specified deadlines to support successful project outcomes and organizational goals. The incumbent in this position will be flexible and customer-service focused, with a demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities for both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Interface with internal stakeholders to evaluate goods and services required and execute purchase orders to fulfill company and/or project needs and fulfill customer requests. Source and negotiate with suppliers based on price, availability, necessity, quality, and logistical expenses. Communicate and build professional relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Manage orders, track deliveries, and maintain accurate and organized records. Assess vendors and their offerings through in-person visits and analysis to assess quality of goods and services to established DVM quality standards. Negotiation of sale agreements and supply contracts to the benefit and profitability of DVM. Coordinate with shipping agencies and sellers to ensure timely deliveries. Authorize payments and manage purchasing expenses with meticulous record keeping. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 5 years' experience with procurement responsibilities in a manufacturing or construction environment.Required Skill/Abilities:
Strong knowledge of ERP systems. MS Office Suite experience. Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills. Effective oral and written communication and business writing skills. Strong attention to detail. Effective prioritization, multi-tasking and time-management skills.Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Ability to report into assigned location Monday-Friday. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and operating a computer. Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software.
