On-site Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician supports quality engineers in standard processes to ensure compliance. They work with quality assurance engineers and manufacturing staff to ensure inspection and testing measures are implemented and maintained. They also assist in the development of standards to meet quality specifications.Measures of success:
Reduce days aging for Material Review Board (MRB) Internal Corrective Action Requests (ICARs) to < 10 days Reduce days aging for Material Review Board (MRB) Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) to < 15 days Perform 4 process internal audits annuallyResponsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Supports development and maintenance of quality systems by writing quality plans, including dimension requirements and inspection specifications, by analyzing blueprints to determine critical dimensions Develops inspection and calibration procedures and techniques for quality inspectors Participates in development of quality plans for suppliers Collects data using calibrated gages and calibrated coordinate measurement machine (CMM) for inspection of materials Uses data to program CMM and analyze for trends Generates and creates internal and supplier corrective and preventative actions within quality software that specify issue needing root cause analysis Determines that packing slips and certificates of conformance meet receiver requirements Prints out inspection worksheets that detail critical to fit dimensions on part drawings Reviews chemicals and mechanicals on test reports submitted by supplier to verify product measurements Maintains 7-year cycle of archived documents per International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality requirements Follows instructions from Quality Assurance Engineer for collecting and circulating out gages for calibration, according to due date schedule Performs hydro inspection, final inspection, in-process inspection and non-destructive examinations (NDEs) as needed within production cells and/or Engineering Lab Performs visual, magnetic particle and liquid penetrant examinations, using x-ray fluorescence (XRF) tools as needed Maintains NDE chemical inventory Adheres to company policies, practices and department standardsQualifications Required:
High School Diploma or equivalentIPC 610 D
Printed Circuit Board Assemblies training and/or certification/endorsement 5+ years of experience in inspection of assemblies or sub-assemblies using precision measuring instruments in a manufacturing environment Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (Epicor a plus) and quality management software (ETQ a plus) Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Hexagon training for the CMM (coordinate measurement system) Knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) specifications and requirements Knowledge of metrology techniques Ability to perform failure analysis to root cause level using 8D (Eight Disciplines of Problem Solving) Ability to work independently and as part of a team Travel may occasionally be required to local warehouse sitePreferred:
Up to 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade, technical school or college Green Belt training or certification preferred American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Inspector Work Environment This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas. This position reports into the site every day. This position has no direct reports.
