What you'll learn: As a Recreation Aide, you'll have the opportunity to work with diverse groups in our beautiful Parks. The Recreation Aide is an excellent position to begin your career in Parks & Recreation, providing opportunity for growth and development. You'll participate in important training including CPR/First Aid Training all while learning: Communication and customer service skills Collaboration Park operations Networking Community relations Cash handling, ledgers, and deposits Recreational program development and planning Contract management Safety and emergency management Recreational software What you'll do: This position performs intermediate paraprofessional work planning and supervising the activities at a recreation center. Work is performed under general supervision. Supervision is exercised over part time employees at the assigned recreation center. Essential Job Functions Monitors participants utilizing the recreation center facilities. Enforces policies and maintains order. Inspects center equipment for proper condition and possible safety hazards, reporting all concerns to the Parks & Recreation Manager. Develops schedules for the center and posts information regarding center activities. Makes schedule amendments for facility usage as needed to avoid conflicts. Answer phones. Responds to center emails. Collects payments, closes and balances cash drawer at the end of the shift. Enters information into RecTrac. Assists with all special events. Performs light maintenance duties. Demonstrates impeccable customer service. Performs other related duties as required/assigned. Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED. Six (6) months of related work experience. Must have a valid CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications or the ability to obtain these certifications within six (6) months. Must have Level II background clearance or the ability to obtain clearance upon employment offer. Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation and group activities. Knowledge of proper telephone etiquette and procedures. Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook. Skill in the use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems. Skill in using computers for data entry. Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to complete work assignment. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to plan and implement classes, various activities, and special events. Ability to maintain complex records and prepare technical reports. Ability to work a digital camera. Ability to maintain discipline and encourage compliance with safety rules and regulations. Ability to track event key performance areas and identify items to work on for future events. Ability to manage event set up, break down and follow-ups. Ability to work independently. Ability to work with internal and external teams as well as event sponsors. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Work environment is typically performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands. The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: crawling, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pushing, reaching, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, and walking.

This position is deemed a safety sensitive position in accordance with Florida State Statute Chapter 112.0455 Drug Free Workplace Act and is subject to pre-employment drug screening.
