Job Description

Primary Scheduled Hours:
Days, 80 hours per pay period
Job Summary:
Responsible for performing the appropriate procedures to verify patient eligibility, coordinate benefits, run test claims, determine patient coverage/responsibility for services and scheduling patient appointments for all clinics of the facility. Deals directly with health plans to expedite the administrative requirements for patient referrals. Performs other secretarial/clerical duties. Responsible for providing coordination of the provider's surgery and clinic schedules. Answers phones, triages patient calls, and schedules physician and ancillary service appointments on computer.
Essential Job Functions:
Schedules patient appointments called in by patients, physicians, and physicians' offices. Obtains patient demographic and insurance information, enters into computer system. Updates information in the computer system for return patients. Provides patient with any pre-appointment special instructions. Answers the telephone in a professional and polite manner, communicates information to appropriate staff. Provides patients with general information about the clinic, directions to the clinic, etc. Interacts professionally with physicians, patients/families and healthcare staff. Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments. Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. Processes all incoming faxes from the fax server; routes to appropriate staff or providers, or imports into patient's EHR chart.
Education Background and Experience Requirements Minimum Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.

Maintain regulatory requirements Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated timelines. Demonstrates the ability to adhere to the mission, ethics and goals of the District. Demonstrates the ability to communicate with patients, guests and staff in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner.
Compensation/How We Care For You:
Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
