Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine nutritional needs, including diagnostic evaluation and physiological considerations. Develop and implement individualized care plans that incorporate nutrition therapy, weight management strategies, and specialized interventions such as tube feeding. Provide expert guidance on dietary modifications, including managing acute care conditions, geriatrics needs, and long-term care requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate nutrition services, monitor progress, and adjust plans as necessary for optimal outcomes. Educate patients and their families on nutrition principles, health coaching techniques, and lifestyle changes to support long-term wellness. Supervise dietetic staff and interns when applicable, ensuring adherence to standards of practice and quality assurance protocols. Document all assessments, interventions, and progress notes accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Qualifications Current registration as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN) with an accredited credentialing body. Proven experience in hospital or healthcare settings, with familiarity in acute care, geriatrics, and long-term care environments. Strong knowledge of physiology related to digestion, metabolism, and disease processes affecting nutritional status. Hands-on experience with dietary department operations, care plan development, and patient assessment techniques. Proficiency in EMR systems for documentation and communication across healthcare teams. Demonstrated skills in health coaching, patient education, and motivational interviewing to foster positive behavior change. Supervising experience preferred to lead dietetic staff or interns effectively. Familiarity with tube feeding protocols, weight loss programs, and diagnostic evaluation methods relevant to clinical nutrition.
